This new Edexcel AS course has been implemented since
September 2008. It comprises of modern American and British History. AS
History will now comprise of 2 units; Unit 1 is Historical Themes in
Breadth and Unit 2 is a British History Depth Study. Unit 1: Two topics will be studied
at the same time. The first topic will be 'Pursuing Life and Liberty:
Equality in the USA, 1945-68' and the second topic is 'Ideology,
conflict and retreat: The USA in Asia, 1950-73'. Unit 1 is worth 50%
of your AS grade and will be assessed via an 80 minute examination Unit 2: The unit being studied is
'Britain in the later 20th Century: Responding to change - Mass media,
popular culture and social change in Britain since 1945'. Unit 2 is also worth 50% of your AS grade and will be assessed via an 80 minute source-based examination.  |
